Ingersoll Pocket Radio

The XK-725 was a deluxe MW/FM/AIR pocket radio manufactured by the Ingersoll Company in British Hong Kong. This is a solid-state radio consisting of eleven silicon transistors, capable of receiving Aircraft Bands. It has a tuning indicator, telescopic aerial, earphone socket, and comes supplied with an earphone. This is a pocket sized radio measuring 15 cm × 7.2 cm × 3.5 cm, and operates on three "AA" size dry cells.

Ingersoll were famous for their fine watches, and clocks, however they also made clock radios, and audio products. The model name usually began with "XK". There is very little information about these audio products on the Internet.

It has this wonderful brushed aluminium front, which is extremely shiny.

The audio amplifier section consists of four transistors, and the final power amplifier stage is a Class AB type, which drives the speaker directly.

Many collectors of pocket radios look on eBay, as it is one of the largest trading places for new and vintage radios. Even an old Ingersoll radio such as this has a value in the second-hand market. This particular one is the deluxe version, and many will have survived to present time. The prices can vary from as little as five pounds upwards, and depends upon the day.
