Sony Discman Sled Mechanism

The sled mechanism is responsible for positioning the platform onto which the laser assembly is mounted. In the Discman D-20, this mechanism consists of cogwheels driven by a DC motor. This unit played the CD for a while and when the broken tooth was at the critical position, a clicking noise would start as the mechanism tries to position the laser.
