Marantz CD6000 OSE CD Player Review

Unlike in European cultures, in the Eastern culture, black is a symbol of power and strength, and this design certainly conveys it. It seems to have an obsidian black colour with a mysterious grain pattern. The design is very minimalist with under stated front buttons, and tiny gold writing. It has that Sword of Bushido, Zen minimalism about it.

The sound quality through the headphones and through a good external amplifier is one of the best. The Sigma-Delta Analogue to Digital Converter chips is certainly doing something.

The build quality of this CD player is one of the best. Right from the start, you will notice how heavy it is with mass 5.6 kg. It has a standard hi-fi width of 440 mm with the dimensions 440 mm × 86 mm × 312 mm.

The OSE model has a strengthening plate across the metal case, and the base is extra thick to prevent vibrations transferring to the CD player mechanism.

The internal components are to the highest quality, as one would expect from Marantz. The electronic circuit design takes sound quality to the highest extreme. The PCB build is modular, allowing engineers to easily upgrade and modify the unit without much effort. The Computer Board is on a separate PCB thus minimising digital cross talk to the audio circuits.

Price

Manufactured to high specifications in Japan, this CD player is highly sought after, and there is always a demand for Marantz audio hi-fi.

You can get these CD players at places such as eBay, and there is always a huge interest. Prices can vary a lot depending upon the interest on the day, and the bidding fever.

The CD6000KI Signature tends to be the most expensive, because this CD player uses high-end components and is the most upgraded in the series. However, the Original SE, and Limited Edition are also highly sought after.

I am still saving up to get a broken one on eBay so that I can fix and modify it. If the Marantz Corporation have a couple they are throwing away, then perhaps they could send one my way.
