Marantz CD6000 OSE Power Supply

There is this nice pretty bar across the transformer with a cut out window. It looks very nice and impressive.

Many cheap CD players use a switched mode power supply, which generates a lot of noise. This is a very high specification conventional transformer. It is impressive that it can be so small and yet provide all the voltage rails.

There is this small section on the main audio PCB for the mains power configuration for different countries.
There is also a proper mechanical switch for controlling the power to the player. This is of course far better than some of the modern players that need to remain on standby, for the front buttons to work.
Since the switch is located right at the back, a long plastic connecting rod connects it to the front power button.

The voltage regulators have nice large heatsinks, which is good.

These heatsinks take up a very small amount of PCB space, as they are tall utilising the vertical height of the player. It is a nice PCB design and a very good example for electronics students.
