Olympus Trip 35 Easy Loading (EL) System Spool

The Olympus Trip 35 Easy Loading (EL) system was one of those useful features, which allowed photographers and novices to load their cameras without any fuss. You simply had to stuff the narrower part of the film into a slot in the take-up spool, and the camera did the rest of the work.

This technology emerged approximately in 1966 and I first came across it on the Olympus Pen EE camera, belonging to my sister.

In the photograph above, you can see the take up spool, which would normally be inside the camera compartment and difficult to see. The spool has a slot, which securely holds the film when inserted into it.
