Olympus Trip 35 Circuit Diagram

The Olympus Trip 35 has a simple circuit diagram consisting of a selenium solar cell powering a moving coil meter.
In this diagram, the colouring of the wires is the same as that found on the camera. Due to the circuit being so small and simple, the selenium cell solders directly to the wires from the moving coil meter, through a series resistor. The resistor has a 10 % tolerance on the rated value, and the measured value was 5.8 kΩ. The total resistance including the meter coil resistance was 8.4 kΩ.
If the selenium cells power output has dropped, it is possible to reduce the value of the resistor so that the meter once again registers full-scale deflection at normal light level. It is also possible to use a modern solar cell instead of a selenium cell; however, it will be difficult to find a horseshoe shaped solar cell that will fit within the lens barrel. It is of course possible to buy resistors, meters, and solar cells from any online electronics supplier these days.
