D. Zuiko Lens

D. Zuiko Lens

In an Olympus Trip 35, this is the final element of the lens, just before the shutter blades. Contrary to popular belief, the Zuiko lens is not a single lens as the "professionals" have been pontificating but a system of lenses that work together. The letter "D" in "D. Zuiko" means that the lens system consists of four elements. In "E. Zuiko", there are five elements, and "F. Zuiko" has six elements.

Olympus was one of the early pioneers of the multi-element lens systems, which they were implementing in microscopes as well. This lens system is one of the best created, and cameras with such systems are highly sought after. Almost all the modern Olympus cameras that you can buy online use the experience from the pioneering work of this lens system.
