14 Pin DIP IC Sockets

14 Pin DIP IC Socket

The 14-pin dual in-line package (DIP) socket, also known as DIP14 socket, is an extremely useful socket used in the field of digital electronics because many 74 series logic integrated circuits (IC) are in a 14-pin outline. The typical dimensions are 10.16 mm width, and 17.78 mm length. The distance between the rows of pins is 7.62 mm, and the spacing between the pins, (pitch) is 2.54 mm. The terminal plating can be gold, tin, or tin / lead combination.

It is also possible to get this socket in open frame, with turned pin or dual leaf connectors. They are even available in a ZIF style with an insertion lever, and through-hole mounting option.

Turned Pin Socket

The 14-pin DIP is a very popular package to work with and there are adapters available to convert other package formats to this. For example, it is possible to get an SOIC to DIP adapter, or even a TSOP to DIP adapter. There is a vast number of interconnect solutions around the 14 pin outline including ribbon cables which plugs directly into the socket.
