32 Pin Wide DIP IC Socket Turned Pin

32 Pin Wide DIP IC Socket Turned Pin

The 32-pin dual in-line package (DIP) socket, also known as DIP32 socket, is an extremely useful socket used for holding memory chips such as an EEPROM. A large number of vintage home computers use this type of chip and socket. The dimensions are 40.51 mm × 17.78 mm, and the pin spacing is 2.54 mm. These machined sockets usually have a width of 17.78 mm and arrive in a wide format. They do not usually make these in a narrow format such as 10.16 mm width. The pin numbering usually starts with the top-left pin as pin 1.

This is a popular format and it is possible to get adapters for it to convert A8, PLCC, and TQFN packages to PDIP. Back in the old days, you could get blue coloured ones readily, however today there are only a few firms in the US selling these, and of course, the postage will be extremely high as usual.
