CD ROM Drive Cage Modification

If the Matrix were to shut down, an engineer would jump out of an alcove and insert a 1.44 MB boot disk with a Linux operating system to restart it. I believe that the floppy drive will be here to the end.

Cutting the CD ROM Drive Cage

I decided to slice off a large corner of this cage using my Borg cutting laser. in the UK, sector 001, we use a hacksaw from the dollar mart store.

Slicing off this part of the cage, increases the choice of motherboards could potentially fit in the case.


Removing RF Shielding

There is a lot of junk here that is removable. For example, this crazy RF shielding that fits around the back of the CD-ROM drive serves no purpose.

This Apple drive is identical to that used on a PC, and I have never seen this RF shielding used there either. There is a similar bit of extra metal riveted for the 3.5-inch enclosure, which also has to go.
