Hard Disk CRC Error

A special error-detecting algorithm called Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) calculates the checksum of the data being stored and writes it in the next sector following the data.

When reading back this data, the same calculation produces another checksum value for comparison, and if they do not match then the system indicates a CRC error. Some programs call it a read error.

This type of disk usually indicates a failing disk. You should backup your data immediately. If the CRC Error count increases then this may indicate serious problems with the drive.
