Sony CFS-2050 Radio

The Sony CFS-2050 has a very interesting tuning dial indicator design that travels in a locus and the path appears almost like a radio signal. Removing the tape transport mechanism provides access to the PCB underneath. In this radio design Sony are using a single chip radio solution, which lowers the component count and cost.

The CXA1238S is an AM/FM radio on chip solution manufactured by the Sony Corporation. It was a very popular radio solution found in radio cassettes of the 90s. It provides extremely good reception and is ideal for portable applications due to its low power consumption.
