RT-6035 Main PCB

The RT-6035 has one long circuit board that contains all the electronics for the cassette recorder and radio circuitry, including the mains transformer. They secured it inside the back half of the case and it simply slides out of the slots. In this design, Toshiba are using very advanced manufacturing methods, and as you can see, the board has printed resistors. The TA7688 was a stereo headphone power amplifier IC manufactured by the Toshiba Corporation. It has supply voltage range of 1.8 V to 5 V, and usually used in portable applications. I suspect that this Toshiba IC is one of the reasons why this Radio cassette sounds so good.

The RT-6035 had a single built-in microphone for recording, however for stereo recording; they provided a pair of sockets for connecting microphones. This radio cassette recorder also has 15 mm piezo-electric speakers for reproduction of higher frequencies.
