SABA RCR 384 Audio

Audio Board

The SABA RCR 384 uses integrated circuits (IC) for the audio part of the circuitry. It has the BA314 op-amp for the preamplifier, and the LA4102 for the power amplifier. In the late 70s and early 80s, these ICs became very popular for tape recorder applications. The LA4102 is a Sanyo IC, which one can expect to find in many brands of portable audio equipment. Back then, Sanyo very much led the way for audio. An advantage of these ICs was that they consumed much less power, and provided a better sound resolution. In addition, they lower the component count and therefore manufacturing costs. Sanyo chips produced that unique 80s sound that makes vintage walkmans and tape recorders very desirable today.
