SCR 850 Graphic Equaliser

Graphic Equaliser

Radio cassettes of the 80s and 90s often had a graphic equaliser that allowed the user to boost or cut certain frequencies. Usually it was desirable to boost the lower and higher frequencies to make up for the inadequacies of the original recorded sound. The Alba SCR 850 has a 3-band graphic equaliser, together with separate volume controls for each channel. This is why there are five slider controls on this board.

On this unit, the graphic equaliser bands are at 400 Hz, 1 kHz, and 10 kHz. The maximum boost and cut is 10 dB, and if you were a student designing a three-band filter covering tone, bass, and mid-range then you may wish to design your filters to operate along these frequencies.
