This one became very popular due to its sound quality. Back then, Toshiba were working on improved speaker designs, and they wanted to create a boombox that produced a "big" sound, consequently, the speakers on this unit produce a wonderful smooth bass, and with the stereo-wide mode, it can sound almost like regular hi-fi. The secret is not just in the speaker design, but also in the way they mount them within the enclosure, which you can see in the following pages of this multi-page article.

Many people used these units outside in the garden and consequently damaged them. Over time, their value will increase, and a unit in mint condition could fetch over fifty to hundred pounds on the right day. If you can find one that is working but just requires a clean, then it could be a good buy to the right person. Broken ones, or ones that require attention can cost as little as ten to twenty pounds. Electronically, these units are serviceable even today, things like motor, heads, and drive belt can be sourced using generic replacements.
