It is possible to power this circuit through the barrel socket provided. However, the manufacturer has also thoughtfully provided a pair of pads (marked plus and minus), where you could solder the wires directly to provide the power. I simply soldered a PP3 9 V battery connector, and it was ready to go. As you can see, I connected a 18.432 MHz crystal, and the counter measured it and displayed 18.429, and this was before any calibration, and using an almost depleted battery, therefore I was impressed!
