Raspberry Pi Model B 512 MB Memory Chip

The Raspberry Pi 512 MB Revision 2 has a Samsung K4P4G324EB memory chip. The Broadcom processor BCM2835 is underneath this memory chip. They have been stacked like this to save printed circuit board (PCB) space. Mobile phones and portable gadgets where space is limited usually use this IC as it has advanced power efficiency features.

Package-on-Package is a new form of interconnecting two integrated circuits by stacking them. This method occupies very little board space and is used in mobile phone applications.
