JVC L-E33 Service Manual

Service Manual

The L-E33 was a linear tracking fully-automatic turntable manufactured by the JVC Corporation in 1983. It has a direct-drive platter with coreless DC FG servomotor. It usually came equipped with the MD1045 moving magnet cartridge, and DT-45 diamond stylus with 0.6-mil conical tip.

Linear tracking turntables are extremely desirable amongst audio enthusiasts, and this one has a wonderful sounding cartridge with wide frequency response of 10 Hz to 25 kHz. This unit has the MC960B motor technology which was an extremely advanced piece of electronic engineering for its time achieving extremely low wow-and-flutter figure of 0.025 % (wrms).

These units are often for sale in the pre-used auction markets and a unit in mint condition and good working order can command a high price in the region of one hundred pounds on a good day. In this unit the tonearm motor gear assembly requires a small drive belt, and there is also the use of a stringing rope. This could be challenging and time consuming to replace, and therefore keep this in mind when buying a unit that requires servicing.
