Harman Kardon SoundSticks AC Adapter

Harman/Kardon SoundSticks, models I, II, and III, require a mains AC adapter that produces 16 V DC (1.5 A). It also has a special 3-pin plug, which connects to the socket in the subwoofer. This particular adapter came with SoundSticks II, and the model number is NU40-2160150-I3.

Review

Replacement adapters are available on-line on eBay, but they are costly. The cheapest one I found was eighteen pounds, and they can cost as much as thirty pounds (approx). Part of the reason for the high cost is because they are compatible with three models of SoundSticks, and the special 3-pin plug makes it very unique.

For the mains AC input, the cable/cord connects through a figure-of-eight style plug and socket arrangement.

As you can see, it has this special 3-pin plug. On the adapter, there is a pinout showing the polarity of two pins whilst the third pin is not connected and behaves as the key.
