Spendor LS5/5 and LS5/6 Bass Driver Repaired

Repaired and Refurbished

After cleaning the surround, rim edges, and cone, the cone centralizer tube was inserted and the surrounds glued back in place with water based glue. These are the photos of the final repair, and how the bass drivers turned out. I tested both drivers at various frequencies and volume levels and both produced a wonderful sound without any distortion. This was the first time in many years that they operated as well as this to their maximum capability and performance. They turned out better than I had hoped, however it was a very time-consuming labour of love. Now all that remains is fitting new dust caps to the cones, and gluing the new mounting gaskets made of cork material. If I get the time, I shall show how that turned out. The final part will be installing the drivers into cabinets.
