Hitachi AX-M140 Control Cable

The AX-M140 control cable appears to be a 40-wire ribbon cable with four IDC connectors. I bought this unit pre-used; and this is the cable that came with it. Looking at the circuit diagram, the pinout at each socket is the same and therefore a straight-through parallel cable should work.

This 40-pin ribbon cable connects all the component systems together and behaves as a common backbone. The cable carries data, audio, and DC voltages. The manual suggests that one should always switch OFF the hi-fi and unplug it before removing this cable or installing it. Failure to do so may result in damage to the electronic circuitry and the main microcontroller IC.
