Inside the CDP-C500M 5 Disc CD player, we see a large loading tray/drawer for loading five CDs. A CD changer system usually has a single laser assembly for reading the discs, and it does so by positioning each disc over the optical bed. The chucking arm and yoke centralise the disk on the spindle for even and uniform rotation. Access to the main board including the loading tray motor is from the underside. On this CD player, the loading tray motor uses a tractor belt, which tends to last much longer than a basic rubber belt. Therefore, if the CD drawer does not open, then it is unlikely to be a failure of this belt.
