Palm Vx Modem

The Palm V Modem Accessory was a modem in the form of a cradle, which allowed the Palm V range of handhelds to connect to a standard phone line. The connection was through a standard RJ11 phone socket, and provided a data transfer rate of 33.6 Kbps using the v.42 compression protocol.

This modem also provided a phone connection through a GSM cellular mobile phone. It supported the Nokia and Ericsson phones, and required a separately sold GMS upgrade kit.

This was a portable modem solution and operated on a pair of AAA dry cells, which provided three hours connection time. The unit was small with mass of only 2.8 oz, and it could also operate on an optional adapter, which was available for purchase separately.
